Participants: 5 to 200 Location: Indoors Duration: 1 to 2 hours
Teams begin by composing their masterpiece. The plot can be anything they like but, in the style of “Whose Line is it Anyway?”, they are given specific criteria that they must incorporate along the way. This includes lines of dialogue, genre and acting techniques, all decided by the other teams!
Their next challenge is to produce all props, costumes and sound effects needed for their play. For this they will learn real theatrical techniques such as making live sound effects and sculpting stage food from instant mash!
At least one character must then be dressed in an authentic costume, designed to portray their character traits, as well as the period and setting of the scene. Teams can make costumes from materials supplied and then add the finishing touches with wigs, accessories and make up.
All of this must all be done within a limited time scale and production budget to achieve rave reviews from the critics. Extra points can be earned by completing the bonus tasks; a theatre quiz, a prop hunt and a poster to advertise their production.
Teams then co-ordinate
their new found talents by performing their scene in a fun finale. Prizes
will be awarded to the winning team who will be showered with Oscars or bouquets
at their final curtain.
