Teams complete medieval themed team building challenges to earn ammunition. The better their performance in the team games, the more ammo they will have to use against the other teams in the final siege!

Teams then build their castles and decipher the ye olde building instructions in order to assemble their trebuchet siege engine. To achieve the best throwing distance they must experiment with different factors such as arm length, pivot position, counterweight and release angle.

Once built, they proudly display their team flags and intimidate their rivals by decreeing their superiority with some fighting talk. They must then use their best throwing technique to annihilate their opponents' castles in the battle of all battles! Challenges can include:

Strategy Area

Stocks & Share

Team members place their hands in the 'stocks' and build the medieval Lego army as a team. But with limited reach and movement, co-operation and communication is required.

Chess Challenge

Teams solve a logic puzzle on a piece of a giant chess board. The aim of the puzzle is to swap the white knights with the black knights. They can only travel using moves allowed in a conventional chess game, and must not be 'taken' by the opposite colour. Tricky!

Joust in Time - Space Hopper Jousting

Teams mount their horsey space hoppers to compete in a jousting competition, in a bid to beat their opponents to gather as many rings as they can on their foam lances!

Suits Ye Sire! - Knight Assembly

Teams must construct a real suit of armour. Half the team will be instructors and the other half will be blindfolded builders. Builders must listen carefully to the instructors who will guide them to put the right pieces in the right places to correctly complete the armour.

Creative Area

Dressing Up & Flag

Teams use the craft materials provided in order to make an outfit that is fit for a king! They then design their own team crest, and make a flag to be displayed proudly on their trebuchet.

Maypole

Teams must co-ordinate their movements around a medieval maypole! They are given some pictures that show different patterns made by the ribbons on the maypole and must work out how they should move around it in order to recreate these patterns.

Building Area

Castle Build

Teams build their castle so that is as stable as possible, to give it the best possible chance of surviving battle. However, strict building regulations must be followed!

Trebuchet Build

Teams decipher the instructions to assemble their trebuchet correctly. As tough as assembling flat-pack furniture and, to add even more of a challenge, the instructions are written in ye olde English!
